Much like an MOT for a car, all forklift truck owners and operators in the UK must ensure their truck undergoes a comprehensive inspection to ensure the full working order and safety of the vehicle. The National Thorough Examination procedures combine the requirements of both Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and should be carried out every 12 months, commencing one year on for trucks purchased from new.
Ensure you comply with HSE requirements
Our engineers are fully qualified and accredited by the Forklift Truck Association to carry out Thorough Examination inspections, which include examination of all the lifting components, chains, hydraulics and forks, as well as the brakes, steering, tyres and other more standard vehicle parts. This must be undertaken independently of your routine forklift maintenance protocol and is a legal requirement.
